Beckmann Frac Plotter Help

Task-based operating guide · current version

Quick start

  1. Open data.
Select a live folder or one or more CSV files. The app detects the format, aligns channels, and loads the standard plots.
  2. Select the window.
Use the Start and End controls, drag across a plot, select a stage, or choose Full Range.
  3. Operate and inspect.
Use Treatment View for matched wells, Live Values, Pumpdown pressure, the 2D model, alarms, and remote viewing.
  4. Create the report.
Mark the Frac and Pumpdown intervals, confirm the stage, generate the report, review it, and export it.

CSV and wellbore workbook processing stays in this browser. Only rendered images of the visible plots and Live Values panel are uploaded when the optional Stream feature is deliberately started.

1. Data sources, stages, and live monitoring

  • Open Folder reads sequential CSV files and can monitor new files or appended rows. Open Files reads one or more selected CSVs and can monitor growing files when the browser supplies persistent file handles.
  • The importer recognizes ASCII channel tables and timestamp/channel/value buffers. Changing channel order is aligned by source name, and genuine gaps remain visibly disconnected.
  • When a folder contains multiple stages, use the stage or range selector to load a specific stage, a continuous stage range, or the live/latest data. The green stage indicator shows the active well and stage coverage.
  • Live Data pauses or resumes monitoring. The ↻ control immediately reloads the current source. Opening either picker from full screen returns the app to full screen after the picker closes.
  • Clean data repairs invalid Sonic Strap dropouts, removes short chemical ghost samples, and excludes chemical concentration readings whenever the alias-first selected slurry rate is below 1 BPM. A missing slurry-rate reading does not remove concentration data. Disable cleanup only when raw telemetry needs to be inspected.
  • Keep OneDrive or other synchronized folders available offline. Temporarily unavailable files are retried automatically. Chrome and Edge provide the strongest folder-access support.

2. Channels, aliases, templates, and exclusions

  • The standard Treatment, active Chemical, and Sonic Strap selections load automatically. Their template buttons rerun detection at any time; named Treatment and Chemical templates can also be saved and restored.
  • Use Find Channels to search, filter, assign P1/P2/P3, rename aliases, or change axis modes. + Add channel above a plot searches unplotted channels directly.
  • Click a channel chip to edit its alias, color, axis mode, or plot assignment. Shared uses a compatible common axis, Separate creates a dedicated scale, and Inverted reverses its direction.
  • Aliases are checked before default source names when the app chooses operational channels such as Job Slurry Total. This helps vendor-specific names win over generic fallback channels.
  • Use Exclude to remove a bad source channel from all application calculations, matching, plots, reports, and models. Restore it from Find Channels → Excluded channels. Exclusions are saved in browser settings.

3. Plot navigation, axes, and sizing

  • Zoom quickly: scroll or pinch over any plot to zoom around the cursor. Drag horizontally across empty plot space or its time-label band to select an exact timeframe. All visible plots stay synchronized.
  • Move through time: hold Shift while scrolling over a plot to pan backward or forward without changing the zoom level.
  • Return to the complete timeframe: double-click any plot's time-label band. You can also use Full Range in the Time Window panel.
  • For precise adjustments, move the Start and End sliders in the Time Window panel. A temporary overlay confirms the active start, end, and duration while zooming or panning.
  • Hover near a trace to show the nearest timestamp and all plotted values. Click a trace point on Plot 1 or Plot 2 to track that selected slurry volume through the 2D wellbore model; click away from a channel value to clear it.
  • Drag a trace vertically to adjust its axis scaling; double-click it to restore automatic scaling. Changing another channel or axis does not reset existing axis adjustments.
  • All three standard-workspace plots open at equal responsive heights. Each separator resizes only the plot above it, and the bottom handle resizes only the bottom visible plot. Double-click a handle to return that plot to its responsive default.
  • Use the eye buttons to hide or restore plots. Snip Plot opens the visible plots in a live auxiliary window, Save PNG captures the visible plots, and Full Screen maximizes the app.

4. Treatment View, matched wells, and Live Values

  • Treatment View enters full screen, keeps the operating plots visible, opens Live Values, and enables matched-well, Pumpdown, wellbore, and Stream features. The left settings panel opens again after a browser refresh.
  • The FRAC badge matches Treating Pressure to zipper pressure. The independent PUMP DOWN badge uses the detected Pumpdown/PD pressure channel. Click either badge to inspect its source or save a display-only well name.
  • Recognized well colors include red, white, blue, orange, green, yellow, gold, black, pink, purple, cyan, teal, brown, and gray. The assigned color carries into the well badge and wellhead visual.
  • The compact Pumpdown plot appears above the wellbore model after a valid handshake. It uses the closest Pumpdown Pressure/PD Pressure match, a fixed 0–10,000 psi scale, starts at handshake time, displays 30 minutes initially, and extends as data grows.
  • Live Value cards show the newest sample. Drag to reorder, use + Add value for any loaded channel, and use the top-right arrow to collapse a card to its channel name only.
  • The bell configures minimum/maximum alarms and Voice, Tone, or Mute behavior. Proppant Pumped supports up to three percentage alarms based on the selected stage’s Sand Total.

5. 2D Wellbore Model

  • After the FRAC handshake remains valid for 20 seconds, the app looks in the selected data folder for the closest well-named Wellbore .xlsx/.xls workbook. It reads the drilling survey, casing data, stage plug depths, stage totals, and proppant design information.
  • Enter the stage number to display Stage # of total stages, choose its plug depth, calculate wellbore capacity, and calculate Bottom Perf Concentration. The stage entry remains focused while live data refreshes.
  • The path is built from measured depth, inclination, and azimuth. Casing size and weight determine capacity. Concentration movement uses the closest alias match for Job Slurry Total first, then default-name fallbacks.
  • The segmented blue-to-red pipe color represents proppant concentration. Flow arrows move along the pipe as slurry total grows. Proppant Pumped compares the live proppant total with the selected stage’s Sand Total.
  • Click a channel value on Plot 1 or Plot 2 to place the high-contrast tracking ball at that volume’s current location. It remains selected through refreshes until another channel point or a non-value plot area is clicked. Once displaced past the plug, the ball is held at the perf end and marked In formation.
  • Validation messages explain workbook problems such as Plug below Drilling Survey or Casing MD greater than Survey MD. Fix the workbook and reload the folder; the model itself does not alter source files.

6. Optional remote Treatment View stream

  • Stream appears only in Treatment View. Enter the operator access key, choose an expiration, and start sharing to create a private read-only viewer link.
  • The full-size QR code appears at the bottom-left while streaming and disappears when streaming stops. The Stream status remains in the header without covering Plot 1 channel controls.
  • Visible plots and the Live Values panel update about every 10 seconds as one complete capture. The viewer can switch among Overview, Plot 1, Plot 2, and Live Values without its selection changing during an update.
  • On a phone, select a plot or Live Values to maximize that view; use Full Screen for the largest available display. A Plot 2 tab is shown only when Plot 2 is visible in Treatment View.
  • Only rendered images and update metadata are uploaded. CSVs, workbooks, aliases, alarms, templates, and reports are not uploaded, and the previous complete capture is removed after its replacement is ready.
  • Use Update Now for an immediate capture or Stop Sharing to remove the active session. Sharing also stops when Treatment View closes.

Treat every stream link like a temporary password. Share it only with the intended viewer and stop sharing when the operation is complete.

7. Generate, review, and export a stage report

  1. Set the Frac Start/End and optional PD Start/End markers, then enter the stage number. If no Frac markers exist, the report uses the visible window and clearly labels that fallback.
  2. Generate Report captures the visible plot snapshot, hides all three plots to maximize report space, matches the likely well, and loads that well’s saved report preferences.
  3. Review Pressure Summary, ISIP, Design Summary substages, stage totals, liquid chemicals, Sonic Straps, deliveries, exclusions, and reconciliation. Report source selectors and manual edits are saved with the well/stage report where supported.
  4. Design Summary integrates clean and slurry rates over real sample time, uses cumulative proppant change, averages PPA/pressure/rate, and allows substage removal, combination, restoration, and chemical-column management. A detected Sonic Strap rise can be linked to a BOL; the suggested SS offload adds calculated usage during that substage back to the observed rise.
  5. Export Report downloads a standalone HTML file with the Beckmann logo at the top-right and the captured plot image attached at the bottom. Print that file or save it as PDF. Close Report restores the prior plot visibility and layout.

8. Statistics, PNG, and numeric layouts

  • Statistics recalculate for the visible window and include Min, Max, Average, Samples, and Used Gal where applicable. Sonic Strap calculations reject invalid low telemetry and flag likely deliveries.
  • Save PNG captures all currently visible plots. The report’s snapshot is captured separately at Generate Report time.
  • In the 9 × 9 numeric layout, select a cell and then a statistic. Shift-select a rectangle to copy a tabular block into Excel. Named layouts can be saved and restored.

9. Settings, privacy, and troubleshooting

  • Inventory Dashboard opens a full-size workspace for the location overview, chemical products and containers, BOL deliveries, transaction history, setup, and the future Proppant Inventory workflow. Each chemical container may store a capacity, starting location status, and optional Sonic Strap or hopper-weight channel.
  • BOL Deliveries keeps the shipper quantity from the paperwork separate from the physical strap received into inventory. The physical strap may be split across multiple matching containers. Linked Design Summary offloads accumulate as a separate SS total, so the dashboard shows physical versus shipper variance and SS versus physical variance without adding inventory twice.
  • When a job folder is open, inventory is stored in Inventory/location-inventory.json. The first time a folder is used, choose Use Browser Setup to copy the current setup or Start Empty to create a separate location inventory.
  • Export Settings backs up aliases, colors, channel exclusions, templates, report preferences, inventory setup and transactions, numeric layouts, Live Value order/collapse state, well names, workbook bindings, and alarms. Import Settings transfers them to another browser or computer.
  • Factory Reset clears saved browser settings only after confirmation. It does not delete source CSVs, wellbore workbooks, exported reports, inventory files, or application files.
  • If live monitoring stops, reselect the source and grant file access. If Snip Plot is blocked, allow pop-ups. If a deployment looks unchanged, perform a hard refresh.
  • Browser full-screen security may require one click to restore full screen after a system picker. The app displays a status message when that fallback is needed.
